Associate/Associate Director – Infrastructure Investments

This company is a large global multi sector conglomerate with a current market capitalisation of over AUD$30bn. Its infrastructure investment division acts as international originator, active investor and manager of infrastructure projects.
The infrastructure investment division is focused on major transport, water projects awarded under governmental public-private partnership (PPP) programmes, and renewable energy projects (particularly waste to energy), across a range of international markets including the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and North America. You will join a well-supported local team of 5.

There is a need for an Associate or Associate Director to join the Sydney team.

  • Responsibilities include:
    Involvement in all aspects of M&A opportunities, including origininating opportunities, conducting due diligence and valuation analysis and commercial negotiations.
  • Undertaking various work streams for PPP bids and secondary transactions and at times performing the role of project lead
  • Play a key role in the development of financial models that assess the financial feasibility of investments
  • Contribute to company’s strategic direction and identify opportunities for business improvement
  • Assist the company and its shareholder in making strategic business investments in global infrastructure projects

For this role we are likely seeking circa 4-12 years of experience within corporate finance/greenfield financial advisory, project finance lending, infrastructure investing. Ideally have a background in financial modelling – ability to build integrated (3-way) financial models from scratch is highly desirable (although this will be a small part of the role).

Due to increased market activity the firm is seeking to hire a Head of Credit Risk & Underwriting, team lead a focused and dedicated team providing in-depth credit analysis and execution on a wide range of transactions and investments across a variety of asset classes and industry sectors styles.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will work closely with the various specialist product businesses, partnering them through the transaction lifecycle, conducting due diligence, and assisting in structuring and execution across the relevant transaction areas – including hi-yield debt, structured asset, and corporate debt finance. You will be charged with the oversight and analysis of counterparties and transactions, effectively communicating the risk perspective to internal stakeholders. In addition, you will also review existing limits associated with counterparties and portfolio risks as market conditions change, and ensure adequate frameworks are in place to support the launch of new products.

Tertiary qualified with a business, accounting or finance related degree and be an experienced credit risk or structured finance professional (10-15+ years) within the disciplines above and requisite specialisations. It is expected that you have gained your skills within a corporate or investment bank, non-bank financier, or debt advisor or debt fund. Your strong knowledge of credit risk and underwriting – covering ratings, investment and sub-investment grade credit – loan management systems, industry practices, lending products, parameters, and documentation will be critical to your success in building and managing this growth initiative.

Investment Analyst/Associate – Unlisted Investments

My client is a global and leading alternatives fund manager with several investment strategies. They manage several high profile mandates with over $6 billion in assets under management and an impressive track record of investors returns over many years (over 18% for more than 20 years). They see an opportunity in their coverage of unlisted markets and are looking to add an Investment Analyst/Associate to bolster these efforts. Sectors targeted are broad but are within industries that have strong demographic drivers and high barriers to entry which have included: Food production and processing; petrol stations/retail, data centres, aged care, renewable energy, student accommodation.

The Investment Analyst will work closely with the Investment Director with responsibility for analysing potential new investments including research into wider industry dynamics, running commercial and financial due diligence, developing investment committee papers and client presentations, managing transaction related processes and occasional work with portfolio companies.

You will come from a M&A, project finance or corporate finance background with a demonstrated skill set in building Investment DCF models from first principles in an investment environment.
