Investment Analyst (Equities/PE) – Family office

  • Large, established family office

My client is one of Australia’s largest and longest running family offices who are broadening their exposure by building a small team of two to expand and run their exposure to global listed equities and private equity/alternatives. There is a need to hire an Analyst to assist for a short period with establishing systems before taking on an investment analysis function. The head of the team, and the direct manager of this role, has worked for both a leading global hedge fund and a leading global (Sydney based) private equity fund.

Reporting to the Head of Listed and Unlisted Investments based in Sydney, the Investment Analyst role will assist with setting up the investment function with automated reporting and performance systems/tools, going on to oversee the performance analysis function on a monthly basis. The role will then progress to assessing and, in due course, coming up with investment ideas, inclusive of building concise but robust investment papers; discussion with the investment team, deal execution work (on the private equity side) and meeting with companies across PE and listed equities.

This family office has a small allocation to discretionary fund managers, and the Analyst will also be involved in assessing the quality of those fund managers. Half of the portfolio will be a concentrated global listed equities, long only. The rest will be direct private equity, with some co-investment and discretionary fund managers (mostly within private equity or alternative funds). This portfolio will have some exposure to direct debt investments.

The ideal candidate will have between 1.5 to 3 years of experience coming from corporate finance or listed equities.

You must have full working rights for Australia to be considered for this role. This fund will not sponsor visas.
