Our client is a large recently privatised electricity grid owner.
This is an exciting time for the business with the new global fund manager owners focused on creating new business lines and ventures to build on their leading position. There are a multitude of ideas already on the table. There is a need for a number of analysts and senior analysts (corporate finance equivalent of Senior Associate) to analyse these opportunities for presentation to the board, CFO and work with the Senior executive team.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Development you will be pushing the boundaries of the business model, thinking entrepreneurially and immersing yourself within the various divisional teams who can assist the team to develop new venture/business ideas. The role will be assisting to develop the business plan, drive the analysis of and initial phases of setting up new business ventures, creating forecasted financial models and building investment papers to present to the board. These ideas may be (these aren’t current examples), opening up a new division, moving into acting as an electricity retailer, developing a new technology that can develop into a business line, expanding into different states…

This will suit a corporate finance modeller, investment banking candidate who is now looking to be able to assist a company with commercial thinking. The years of experience for an analyst is likely to be 2-4yrs, and a Senior Analyst is 4-8yrs.

The ideal candidate will have gained 2-3 years experience of commercial or corporate credit analysis or a trade/asset/structured finance role and will be comfortable working in a highly dynamic, multicultural environment across multiple time zones. Successful candidates will be curious, resilient, reliable and able to work in a transformational business. Occasional overseas travel may be involved in the role and applicants with additional language skills (eg. Mandarin, Korean, Japanese) will be well regarded.

As a Senior Analyst/Associate, you will be responsible for assisting the Head of Project Finance with deal origination and execution of project finance transactions, as well as liasing with key stakeholders across the business. Working with top tier institutional clients, you will be responsible for supporting origination, credit risk and financial analysis, conducting company due diligence, legal documentation, commercial negotiations with sponsors and portfolio management. In addition, conducting ongoing industry research in order to expand and grow the bank’s exposure to key clients is a vital part of your role and the overall growth initiatives of the firm.

You will have tertiary qualifications in Business, Law, Finance or relevant discipline, coupled with 2-5 years’ experience within corporate finance/project finance (infrastructure, PPP, energy preferred but not a prerequisite).
