This is an exciting opportunity to join the Credit Opportunities business within a leading global bank. The team operates with an on-balance sheet institutional fund-like nature, and is responsible for building and managing a loan book with positions across the financing spectrum of investment and sub-investment grade transactions in Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the local Head of, you will be responsible for assessing and managing financing transactions linked to multiple asset classes across a broad range of sectors. You will be responsible for assessing, structuring and executing a range of products across senior secured debt, stretch senior debt and mezzanine secured debt; including but not limited to, equity linked products generated from either an underwrite and syndicate strategy, or a pure take-and-hold basis.

You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or other finance related field, and have 5-10 years’ relevant experience – with an in-depth knowledge of the specifics of Structured Finance, Capital Markets, Leveraged and Acquisition finance. In addition, it is expected that you have strong credit and financial analysis skills, a thorough understanding and preparation of detailed cash flow models and in-depth analysis of corporate capital structures; with a proven track record of running and executing transactions. This role will suit those who work well in a fast paced environment, is highly analytical, self-motivated and keen to be part of a growing business.

Head of Credit & Underwriting

This high growth alternative finance group differentiates itself with a progressive agenda and a unique approach. Due to increased market activity the firm is seeking to hire a Head of Credit Risk & Underwriting, team lead a focused and dedicated team providing in-depth credit analysis and execution on a wide range of transactions and investments across a variety of asset classes and industry sectors styles.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will work closely with the various specialist product businesses, partnering them through the transaction lifecycle, conducting due diligence, and assisting in structuring and execution across the relevant transaction areas – including hi-yield debt, structured asset, and corporate debt finance. You will be charged with the oversight and analysis of counterparties and transactions, effectively communicating the risk perspective to internal stakeholders. In addition, you will also review existing limits associated with counterparties and portfolio risks as market conditions change, and ensure adequate frameworks are in place to support the launch of new products.

Tertiary qualified with a business, accounting or finance related degree and be an experienced credit risk or structured finance professional (10-15+ years) within the disciplines above and requisite specialisations. It is expected that you have gained your skills within a corporate or investment bank, non-bank financier, or debt advisor or debt fund. Your strong knowledge of credit risk and underwriting – covering ratings, investment and sub-investment grade credit – loan management systems, industry practices, lending products, parameters, and documentation will be critical to your success in building and managing this growth initiative.

Our client is an well established, well capitalised and rapidly growing financial services group with offices through Australia and Asia. With a substantial loan portfolio they are one of the biggest operators in Australia’s alternative finance market, with ambitions for substantial future growth. The firm is private equity backed and with significant capital has an ambitious and exciting expansion plan. Part of this includes hiring an experienced, yet entrepreneurial, CFO to join the leadership team and help drive the expansion program.

As a strategic and driven CFO, you will be joining join a fast paced financial services group in a leadership capacity. This is an Executive level role where you will be ‘2IC’ to the CEO. You will lead a team across finance, legal, compliance, risk and treasury – and be comfortable with expanding/building the team to support a business with significant growth ambitions, backed by the capital to execute on these.  You will play a key part in overseeing the high growth aspirations of the company. In terms of leadership you will actively engage investors, funders and the private equity owners.

Tertiary qualified with technical accountancy qualifications (CA, ACA, CIMA), you have a proven capacity to lead and motivate a finance and wider team, with experience in the financial services sector in a leadership role.

You will have experience in all aspects of finance including internal and external reporting, tax, cashflow management, treasury, financial analysis, and compliance. It is also hopeful that you also have a strong working understanding of treasury, funding, and securitisation. Any exposure to M&A transactions, high growth businesses, operating at Board level and private equity will be highly regarded. You will have the ability and confidence to work with individuals across all levels of the business, as well as the gravitas to communicate and present to the Board and Shareholders.

You will be charged with the analysis of counterparties and transactions, effectively communicating the risk perspective to internal stakeholders. In addition, you will also review existing limits and trading conditions associated with particular counterparties and portfolio risks as market conditions change, and ensure adequate frameworks are in place for new products.

Tertiary qualified with a business, accounting or finance related degree and be an experienced credit risk professional (4-10 years), within the disciplines above and requisite specialisations. It is expected that you have gained your skills within a commercial or investment bank, non-bank financier, or broking firm. Your strong knowledge of risk analysis – covering LBO, M&A, securitisation, ratings, real estate and investment grade credit – loan management systems, industry practices, lending products, parameters, and documentation will be critical to your success in building and managing this growth initiative.
