This is a portfolio company of a leading global infrastructure investment asset manager that owns and operates high-quality, long-life assets in the utilities, transport, energy and data infrastructure sectors across North and South America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
Role Responsibilities
They are looking for a Senior Associate to join their head office in Sydney with the opportunity to play a key role in growing the business with a focus on analysis, problem solving and project management. You will be working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Development Officer providing input into investments, projects and the overall business.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
• Undertaking financial and commercial assessments for the business ensuring that operating and financial performance is maximised and targeted investment returns are achieved
• Delivering advanced statistical models that solve defined business issues. Model the business plan and provide vital input in short and long-term and operational planning and positioning within the organisation
• Gathering financial performance data from business and relevant stakeholders to produce financial analysis by business unit, various sites and investment opportunities
• Identifying opportunities for increasing the financial performance of the organisation and advising the business in a timely manner
• Preparing specialised reports and prepare materials in support of the Investment Committee Presentation
• Create models and evaluate new project opportunities across the spectrum of DC projects
• Supporting the development of budgets and financial plans, comparing actual results against annual and long-term business plans
• Participate in operational reviews including site visits; validate operating cost and capital expenditure assumptions; and identify value creation opportunities
• Provide input to business plans with the investment team, describing how value will be created from controllable factors
• Contribute to the development of detailed onboarding work plans with input from the investment and corporate teams

The successful candidate will fit the following criteria:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in a financial/accounting role within the big 4 and 5+ years of intensive experience in key econometric and statistical techniques (predictive modelling, logistic regression, survival analysis, panel data models and data mining methods)
High level of proficiency in Excel, Power BI or similar with outstanding financial modelling skills
Understanding of corporate finance principles with demonstrable experience in conducting due diligence processes
Degree within Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other relevant courses with a professional accounting qualification (CPA/CA) and/or other relevant programs such as CFA
Ability to develop financially sound analyses to inform business investment decisions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical subject matter
