Our client is a leading Australian Private Equity Fund focusing on mid-market Australian and New Zealand businesses with an enterprise value between $200m and $700m covering a range of sectors / industries.

The Senior Associate will be part of a small dynamic team that focuses on the portfolio / investee companies, working directly with the executive management at various phases of the investment period. This role requires a passionate, flexible, strategic and hands-on candidate with a strong bias to accounting and finance – you will be driven by performance improvement, best in practice processes and procedures. Able to review existing processes, practices, systems, structures etc. and provide strategic advice and guidance on improvements and then be closely involved in the execution of these.

As already stated we’re looking for someone with a strong accounting background – a key part of your focus will be on;
Establishing detailed financial and management reporting, board reporting and operating reporting
Developing and tracking progress against value creations plans
Ensuring effective management practices, processes and structures
Develop and facilitate delivery of short-term value creation opportunities
Coordinate, track and assist in the execution of agreed actions across the portfolio company
Facilitate investor and other stakeholder reporting
Support the investment team with operational due diligence
Assist with portfolio company forecasts and valuations
Work with the investment team on exit planning and preparation.

Required Experience:

  • Chartered Accountant from one the big 4
  • Experience in Bluechip
  • 5+years of relevant accounting, reporting and finance experience in both public and private companies
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, completely at ease operating and presenting at all levels.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter who’s comfortable turning their hand to a variety of tasks

Director, FICC Compliance, International Investment Bank

Our client, a Full Service Investment Bank, is looking to hire a senior Compliance Officer to join an existing high performing team and lead the Markets compliance function. You will be the FICC subject matter expert, a partner with business, operate as a senior leader / mentor in the team and 2IC to the Chief Compliance Officer in successful dynamic business.

Some of your immediate responsibilities will include:

1.    Compliance Coverage for FICC and Equities, in addition you will provide oversight to coverage on Capital Markets (ECM & DCM)
2.    Timely performance of Compliance requirements contained in law (inc. The Corporations Act) ASIC Market Integrity Rules, ASX & Chi-X Operating Rules
3.    Working closely with the FICC & Equities desks in relation to various legal and regulatory matter
4.    Regulatory change and developments across Global Markets including keeping up to date with all legal & regulatory changes from APRA, ASIC, ASX, Chi-X, advising the business where appropriate, providing oversight to ensure changes are effectively addressed
5.    Be a representative for the firm and actively participate in internal and external forums / industry bodies

Required Experience

  • 10+ years’ relevant experience in a compliance and at least 5 years experience in FICC Markets, ideally gained in Australian and/or Asian markets
  • Good knowledge of business activities and products i.e. corporate banking, treasury, syndications, trade finance and capital markets (DCM, equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, precious and base metals)
  • Thorough knowledge of the regulatory / supervisory structure of the financial markets, current banking / securities regulations and industry best practices / standards in Australia.
  • Sound knowledge of Compliance organisation, policies, processes, procedures, operations and internal controls
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to review and understand complex documents and materials for assimilating the content in a practical and coherent manner
  • Internal audit knowledge in a financial environment would also be beneficial
  • Law, Finance or Commerce degree educated.

Analyst / Associate – Debt Markets

Our client is a global banking organisation with a long and successful track record and presence in the Australian market. Given deal flow across the team and market, the Debt Capital Markets business has created a new role, either at Analyst or Associate level, to support the Loans and Bonds business. Key focus of the role will be to work with team on the origination and distribution of loan transactions, and also the origination of bond transactions.

Working with a highly experienced team, you will work in a fast paced environment and will have the opportunity to rotate across the business and its functions in future. This role will allow you to gain full transaction execution experience from start to finish, to build an understanding of the key drivers of deals, and will involve preparing and underwriting transaction papers and memos, performing financial analysis, preparing and producing client materials and very actively building and maintaining relationships with the investor network across Australia and New Zealand. Working across both primary and secondary loans you will see a busy and active deal pipeline and will have the opportunity to interact with teams offshore.

Successful applicants will have ideally gained 2-4 years banking experience in either a DCM or Corporate / Institutional Credit or Coverage role and will be looking to build out their career in an international bank in a busy and successful product team. Candidates who have gained exposure to Infrastructure / Industrials / Transport / Utilities sectors will be well regarded. Imperative to the role is excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, that will allow you to actively engage from day 1 with investors and internal clients at all levels, and you will be someone who will enjoy a varied and diverse role.

Our client is a specialist and significant investor and financier to the Australian market, specifically in renewable energy, efficiency and emissions technologies, transport, real estate, manufacturing, agriculture, and in recent times also into innovation and aggregation platforms. Their investment portfolio comprises a relatively low volume of predominantly high dollar value transactions. To support continuing growth, they are now seeking to appoint a Director Risk & Portfolio Mgt to provide credit risk and portfolio support to the Origination team in structuring and executing transactions.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will support the Origination team and Chief Investment Officer in conducting credit analysis and preparing investment papers, ensuring adherence to investment & loan policy and credit ratings. You will manage conditions precedent sign-offs to bring deals to financial close and review all aspects of due diligence, as well as supporting the investment committee in reviewing all transactions. Key to your role, is providing assessment on investment risk of proposed transactions, and provision of feedback to the Origination team in structuring deals and risk appetite.

With relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or Business, you will have 15+ years’ credit risk and/or portfolio mgt experience gained from a corporate/investment bank, investment fund, other financial institution or advisory firm. You have developed technical skills in credit analysis, financial products, and legal structures, with extensive experience in project finance, corporate finance, property finance and securitisation, risk assessment and loan management. Experience with debt, equity and venture capital would be viewed favourably. Your strong problem solving skills and confidence in working with new and innovative structures and solutions will lead to positive investment outcomes. An accomplished communicator, you can explain complex concepts to both clients and stakeholders, and your excellent organisation skills, allow you be effective with tight deadlines and high pressure situations.
