• Excellent mentoring opportunities

Our client is an investor of listed and unlisted capital and currently has over $6bn FUM, having invested for over 20 years returning circa 18% pa over that time. It has 3 offices globally including a Sydney office, which has circa 14 investment staff who work cohesively across several disciplines. The position we are looking to fill sits within the allocated team which works across the full life cycle of origination, execution and asset management. This fund manager represents the alternative allocation for 4 large scale local and overseas based institutional clients they have the ability to tap into large pools of capital across different capital structures and return profiles. Target return depends on the given risk within the opportunity and can vary from high single digit IRRs to 20%+ returns. They also have the ability to invest across capital structure, into some areas of debt including convertible notes.
This fund manager is consistently competitive across some of the key assets which are up for sale, and other strategically sourced opportunities. The typical target asset will show stability which is assisted by supportive demographic drivers and high barriers to entry. Such companies are too numerous to mention but include: storage, waste management, healthcare, telecommunication hardware, data centres, infrastructure, infrastructure technology, infrastructure services, agriculture and water. This fund manager will typically work between investments of $100m and $1bn+, and be attracted to strategically originated transactions as opposed to large auction processes. They have the ability to work across listed and unlisted investments and are able to hold their assets into perpetuity if return targets are met. The culture is collaborative, and a sensible work/life balance compared to its (often) global Private Equity competitors.
Reporting directly with an Investment Director and the Head of Unlisted investments, you will work collaboratively with Investment Managers and Investment Executives across the investment life cycle of: Analytical work around new transactions, due diligence, writing papers around the information memorandum for the investment committee. For transactions you will assist with deal process work and timelines. Within portfolio assets you will assist the review of portfolio businesses as Investment Directors sit on the boards of portfolio companies.
Despite being in this team, you will have the ability to assist other teams across global listed investments including allocations in the US and Europe with a long term value approach. This team works with management to drive performance.
The candidates we consider will have between 2-4 years experience within a leading M&A team. We are not considering candidates who are based overseas or do not have working rights in Australia.

In return you will join a team of 14 high performers with a local investment committee, be working towards a full cycle investing skill set in a team which genuinely values strong investment thesis.
