The last couple of years has seen unprecedented levels of hiring in both debt and equity markets – across both banks and funds. With the noticeable drop in IPO and M&A transactions reflecting an uncertain economic backdrop, we have seen a good degree of pace come out of equity deals whilst credit funds, restructuring and corporate recovery specialists are ready and poised to step up their activities.
We sense the balance of hiring seems to be reflective of this changing market with hiring by the international banks, credit and special situations funds remaining robust while some of our equity-focused clients are taking a pause post a period of scaling up on staff, capital and assets - some of which may be facing trading headwinds currently.
