Goodbye Tay Tay, Welcome 2024!

So only 2 months in (with January in truth being a partial write off) we’ve already closed or are at offer stage on a very healthy selection of mandates. We thought it worth sharing some of the highlights as this may give an early indicator of where the hiring activity in 2024 might sit.

• Nancy Tchou has left Morgan Stanley where she led the Australian Infrastructure, Government & Superannuation Fund group to join Greenhill as Managing Director.

• Trevor Olds Executive Director at MA Financial Group, has joined Jefferies as Senior Vice President.

• Patrick Dunn has joined JP Morgan as an Investment Banking Associate from MA Financial Group.

• Summer Haidar has joined Lazard as an Associate from Planum Partners’ real estate, infrastructure & energy team.

• Priyanka George has joined Gresham’s Advisory team from EY where she was a Senior Consultant.

Corporate Banking / Debt Products / Risk Management

• Pratik Shinde has joined Barclays as Director & Head of International Corporate Banking Coverage Australia from Bank of America where he was Director, Corporate Banking.

• Byron Gordon previously Managing Director, Resources at GCI, has been appointed as Head of Debt Advisory with Wilsons Advisory.  

• Tamsin White, ex Fortescue Future Industries has joined BNP Paribas as Director, Capital Markets & Low Carbon Transition Group.

• Tim McGivern has joined DBS Bank as Vice President, Credit Risk from Commonwealth Bank where he was Senior Manager, Corporate Credit Risk.

• Sally Wang, previously with Realside Financial Group, has joined Nomura as an Investment Associate, Structured Lending & Special Situations.  

• Ryan Jeon has joined MUFG as an Analyst, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance from Commonwealth Bank’s major client group team.

• Andrew (Art) Tanner has been appointed as Managing Director & Senior Adviser with E&P Capital. He was most recently Head of Australian Equities with JP Morgan.

• Australian Nick O’Kane previously Commodities Head with Macquarie Group is reportedly set to join Mercuria initially in Dubai with a focus on Asia.  

• Samuel Rodgers has joined Scotiabank as Branch Treasurer, Australia from ING Bank where he was Senior Manager, Group Treasury.

ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS

• Alexandra Commins previously of AVC Enterprises International has set up new firm Goldstone Private Equity alongside Jay Johnson previously of J5 Capital. The firm has added Chris Ranocchia to its team from Rosewood Private Investments, as Business Development Director.

• Anna Shave of Tanarra Capital, has been appointed as Managing Director, RCF Innovation with Resource Capital Funds.

• Neal Kok has been hired by General Atlantic for its APAC arm based in Singapore, from KKR in Sydney where he was a Director.

• Boris Dangubic previously with KKR as Director, has joined CVC Capital Partners.

• Eliza Allen has joined Seidler Equity Partners as an Investment Associate from MA Financial Group.

• Georgia De Pasquale has joined For Purpose Investment Partners as an Investment Associate from Bank of America.

• Joshua Bastians (previously of Allier Capital) & Georgiana Ma (ex Credit Suisse) have both joined Adamantem Capital as Associates. Samantha Rieger, previously with Highbury Partnership has joined the firm’s impact fund. Vera Lapchine has also joined the team as Senior Associate, Investor Relations from Bank of America.

• Jasmine Head, ex Minderoo Foundation & ANZ Bank, has joined Cbus Super Fund as an Associate, Private Equity.

• William Ye (ex Barrenjoey) has joined Affinity Equity Partners as an Associate.

• Jackson Green, ex Carlyle has joined BGH Capital as an Investment Associate.

• Jasalina Patel, earlier with Strategy& as a Manager, has joined Genesis Capital as an Associate.

• Caroline Hamer previously with Antipodes, has joined the Pacific Equity Partners’ team as an Associate. Justin Zhu has also joined the firm’s Gateway team as a Senior Analyst from Record Point.

• Zara Britten-Jones has joined Privatus Capital Partners as an Analyst. She has earlier experience with Centerview Partners in London.

• Christine Meagher, ex 333 Capital has joined Next Capital as an Investment Analyst.

• Murray Osborne & Bevan Rossjohn have both joined Quadrant Private Equity as Investment Analysts. They were more recently with Goldman Sachs.

• Edward Collas & Camille Roussel have both joined W23 as Lead Investors. Edward joins from Rothschild & Co. where he was an Associate Director & Camille was previously with News Corp as Executive Manager, M&A and Corporate Development. Lachlan Wynne from Macquarie Group has also joined the W23 team as a Portfolio Lead.

• Damon Fletcher has been appointed as Managing Director, Credit Fund Management with ICG. Damon has experience with Siemens as Executive Director more recently & earlier with Credit Industriel et Commercial. They have also added to the team John Whitehill as a Structured & Private Equity Associate Director, John comes from Ramsay Health Care.  

• Gary Looi has joined GCI (Global Credit Investments) as Investment Director, Asset Backed Finance from FIIG Securities. The team has also added Sunny Xu & Ethan Zhu as Investment Analysts from Westpac & QBE respectively.

• Ben Haddad previously with GCI, has joined Longreach Credit Investors as an Investment Director.

• Peter Richardson has joined Bain Credit from MA Financial Group’s special situations & restructuring group.

• Corey Dawson previously of Liverpool Partners, has joined Wingate as Executive Director, Corporate Investments.

• Robert Grajczyk previously with Wingate, has joined GCI as an Investment Director.

• Brandon Tang, ex Palisade Investment Partners, has joined HPS Investment Partners as an Investment Associate.

• Michael Knox previously from MA Financial Group, has joined Keyview Financial Group as an Investment Analyst.

• Mark Howard has been appointed as Head of Infrastructure Investment Origination, APAC with Rothesay. Mark was previously with Macquarie Group as Associate Director.

• Andrew Williams has been appointed to the role of Portfolio Manager, Social Affordable Housing Fund with Tetris Capital. Prior to this role, Andrew was with Madigan Capital.

• MaxCap Group sees the addition of Haley Devine (ex Wingate), Joshua Pereira & Scott Robertson (both ex NAB) to the firm. Haley takes on the role of Director, Capital. Joshua has been appointed to the role of Director, Investments & Scott joins as Associate Director, Construction Risk.

• Matthew Smith has joined the Schroders RF origination team from MaxCap Group where he was an Investment Director.

• Chris Hargraves, ex Perrett Evans Group has joined Central Real Capital as Director, Origination.

• Alex Hayde who has earlier experience with Allianz Global Investors in London & more recently Payton Capital, has joined Centuria Bass Credit as a Senior Relationship Manager.

• Qualitas has added Tony Chen & Robert Renzella to its team as Investment Associate & Investment Analyst respectively. Tony was previously with Metrics Credit Partners & Robert with Commonwealth Bank.

• Liz Harré, ex Bank of America & Morgan Stanley, has joined Stonepeak as an Investment Associate.

• Alexia Photios who was Investment Banking Associate at Macquarie, has joined Wentworth Capital as an Investment Analyst.

• Jayde Whiteman has been appointed as Head of Institutional Distribution with Roc Partners. She was most recently Director of Credit Suisse Private Fund Group.

• VanEck is expanding its Brisbane team with the appointment of Deniz Kilic (ex Prime Financial Planning) as Business Development Associate & Vivian Liu (ex TCorp) as Associate, Investments & Capital Markets.

• Adam Cassidy has joined Janus Henderson Investors as a Sales Director. He has prior experience with T Rowe Price as a Relationship Manager.  

Investments

• Sophia Rahmani will join Magellan as Managing Director, Magellan Asset Management. She was previously CEO for Maple-Brown Abbott.

• CBUS sees the addition of Stephen Monnier from BlackRock where he was Head of Sustainable & Transition Solutions Australasia. Stephen joins CBUS in the role of Head of Stewardship.

• Agnes Hong has joined Aware Super as Head of Public Market Equities. Agnes has prior experience with Vestmark as CIO & earlier with Vanguard in the US. Aware has also hired Stirling Keen to the role of Operating Partner, Direct Asset Oversight Enhancement. Stirling was previously a Strategic Advisor for Pandanus Equity. Christopher Cramond of AustralianSuper, has also joined Aware Super as Head of Member Strategy.

• Sunny Bangia has joined Blackwattle Investment Partners to build their global equities strategy along with previous colleagues Edward Li, Nicholas Tan & Isaac Boorer all from Antipodes.

• Minh Pham, Banks Analyst from Barrenjoey is joining Milford Asset Management as an Analyst in their global equities team.

• Monique Rooney, Analyst & Portfolio Manager with Fidelity International, has joined Alphinity Investment Management.

• Brendan Mowry also previously of Fidelity International as Consumer Investment Analyst has relocated to Brisbane to join DNR Capital.

• Jeff Gebler previously of Ardea Investment Management, has joined Rest Super as Head of Investment Risk Compliance.

• Robert Hogg joins SG Hiscock as CIO. He previously held roles with UniSuper & Frontier Advisors.

• Johnson Weng has joined Bell Asset Management as a Global Equity Analyst, previously spending several years with Kiwi Wealth in New Zealand.

• Alison Ma, ex UBS has joined AustralianSuper as an Investment Analyst, Credit.

• Enrico Dela Rosa has joined Antipodes Partners as an Analyst. He was most recently with Adamantem Capital.

• Scott Hartley (ex AMP) has been appointed as incoming CEO of Insignia Financial following the departure of Renato Mota.

• Yoko Kosugi previously with APA Group as General Manager Capital Markets & Corporate Finance, has joined Pembroke Resources as CFO.

• Sally Collins has been appointed as COO with Aware Super commencing in April, she was most recently with HESTA as CFO.

• Ian Taylor, who was head of ECM with Goldman Sachs, has joined APM as Chief Strategy Officer.

• John Ketelbey has been appointed as General Manager, Business Development with Wesfarmers. He has prior experience with GenesisCare & Macquarie Group. Edward Oppes, ex Barrenjoey & UBS has also joined Wesfarmers as Project Principal.

• Neill Dunmore who has prior experience with Commonwealth Bank & more recently NAB, has joined Housing Australia as a Director in Perth.

• Dinuka Jayasuriya has joined AGL in the role of Senior Corporate Development Manager from Westpac.

• Helaina Raad has joined Guzman Y Gomez as Investor Relations & Corporate Development Manager from Wesfarmers’ business development team.

• Elise Ashley, ex Goldman Sachs Investment Banking Associate, has joined CAR Group as a Corporate Development Manager.

• Claire Canova prior with Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banking Associate, has joined Atlassian’s strategy & business operations team.

• Danny Huang has joined DCI Data Centers as a Senior Associate. Danny joins from Aware Super.

• Olivia Guo has joined Automic Group as a Strategy and M&A Associate from Five V Capital.

• James Roberts previously an Associate with Flagstaff Partners, has joined REA Group as a Senior Corporate Development Manager.
