As it is now bonus time for many of the larger global financial institutions, we thought it made sense to revisit the bonus prediction poll we ran back in November: 35% predicted bonus would be down on last year, 27% predicted a more hopeful view with an increase on last year. And 15% predicted zero bonus.
So how did bonuses fare versus the predictions? Well, don’t start changing your name to Claire Voyant … but so far, the outcomes are pretty close to those predicted. Generally speaking, bonuses were down with juniors winning out over their more senior colleagues. Rumour has it Credit Suisse bonuses were both disappointingly down and deferred, and Jefferies paid some of the highest bonuses overall.
