The Client
Our client is a global renewable energy transition platform that develops, owns, operates and invests in an extensive portfolio of clean energy assets around the world. The firm now boasts operations across Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America with well over 200 employees globally. In Australia, the platform is a high-growth investor and developer of renewable energy projects that enjoys the backing of significant institutional capital partners and has ambitious plans to move into disruptive areas of green technology. With this in mind, they are now looking to hire an Associate Director for their investment team based in Sydney.

This role will have direct exposure to all aspects of the investment process and will work directly with the Head of Investments, Australia. The role’s key responsibilities will include:
Project manage and coordinate buy- and sell-side M&A and project finance transactions

  • Manage due diligence workstreams and advisors
  • Work with the broader Investments team to prepare Investment Committee papers and supporting financial analysis for internal/Board approval processes
  • Support the negotiation of financing/transaction documentation
  • Prepare external presentations for investors and lenders, including information memorandum


Lead the firm’s continued investment and expertise in new, disruptive areas of the Energy transition including the development of business cases, financial structuring and financial modelling as required

  • Work closely with team members across the Amp business to develop expertise in green hydrogen from an investment perspective (including the business case, financing structure, and financial model)


Contribute to the leadership, management and mentoring of the investment team

  • Manage day-to-day workflow and review financial modelling/analysis
  • Be an educational resource; help other team members get up the learning curve on project finance modelling and energy markets
  • Drive improvements to existing processes


The successful candidate will bring the following:

  • ~6-8 years total experience, including a mandatory track record in a Renewables investing capacity. Candidates with broader Renewables/Infrastructure-focused corporate finance, transaction advisory, project finance, investment banking or experience in PPP transactions may also be considered.
  • The ability to interrogate and amend complex financial models
  • Entrepreneurial flair and the excellent communication ability and negotiation skills that come with this
  • Ability to develop respect internally and work collaboratively with colleagues in a small but highly active environment
