Our client is a multi-strategy private investment firm with a Direct Private Equity mandate that manages a global portfolio of investments with a combined EV of ~$500m. Their portfolio spans Australia, the United Kingdom, and North America across a variety of different sectors and verticals and the investment team works closely with their investee companies on a range of value creation activities. The team typically pursues significant minority investments in founder-led companies seeking to maximise value ahead of a future exit.
Our client is in a position to realise a number of its investments overseas and is looking to hire an Analyst, Private Equity into their team in Sydney to support these activities along with a number of potential follow-on investments. This role represents an excellent entry point to an investment fund and will provide the successful applicant with genuine firsthand exposure to operating businesses and investment processes.
Reporting to the Head of Investment, your key responsibilities will include:
• Assist with screening potential investment opportunities
• Build financial models & perform financial analysis to support acquisitions & the divestment of portfolio companies
• Support due diligence workstreams in relation to acquisitions
• Undertake financial & other analysis to help drive the assessment of value creation initiatives & portfolio company valuations.
• Assist the team in preparing Investment Committee & Board reports
Candidates will ideally have ~2-3 years’ experience in M&A, Transaction Services or Valuations at an investment bank, a leading independent firm, or a top tier CA firm. You will have gained solid exposure to M&A transactions and will have a firm grasp of the financial and commercial drivers that impact a business’ growth and performance. You will also be able to articulate your genuine interest in investing and the workings of operational businesses, have exceptional interpersonal skills and be someone who is confident but ‘down to earth’ as you will gain early exposure to investee companies, founders and senior stakeholders.
