JMES has been exclusively mandated to recruit an Origination Manager for a highly successful Private Capital Fund that has over $2bn in funds under management. As an investment firm with a multi-strategy mandate they are a key partner to Australian and New Zealand based businesses seeking growth capital and operational support and expertise to fuel their expansion both domestically and internationally. As an Origination Manager you will join a high performing team and help drive business development efforts, sourcing proprietary deal flow as part of the Private Equity Investment team and also contributing to the pipeline of bolt-on opportunities across the portfolios. Working as a key member of the investment team you will have a deep understanding of what fits the mandate and an ability to build and develop prospects for the firm.
The role will involve a combination of research and building idea generation through a solid understanding of sectors and the relevant market dynamics. You will also be responsible for proactively building strong relationships across a range of industry sources that will see you foster deep partnerships to ensure you are able to deliver a strong pipeline of investment ideas to the team, spending time speaking to best in class founders and managers to understand their growth ambitions. You will present themes and investment opportunities to the team and will be responsible for screening businesses and building relationships with management teams and business founders. You will be comfortable presenting your ideas and businesses to the investment team and will utilise you transactional background and expertise to provide scoping and assessment of investment opportunities.
Successful applicants will have ideally gained 8-12 years’ experience from corporate advisory, other private capital investment roles or could have gained experience in a Private Equity origination role either domestically or offshore. You will have genuine interest in investing and being part of a Private Capital team, will display a proactive and business development focus with a high level of EQ and drive to succeed. Central to your success will be a natural ability to build meaningful relationships with business founders and management teams and display an understanding of the importance of alignment between investors and businesses.
