Interim Head of Project Finance

My client is Australia’s leading originator, investor and developer of greenfield infrastructure, PPPs and energy transition projects. Over the past ~20 years, they have built an unparalleled track record of development and investment in a broad range of energy transition and infrastructure projects with now over $70 billion worth of projects and assets delivered. Boasting a unique integrated platform and specialist expertise in the sector, my client can consistently deliver the best solutions for sustainable, innovative outcomes. Along with their continued commitment to investing in Australia’s energy transition and track record in infrastructure, my client is now moving into new areas of investment, including digital and social infrastructure.

My client has an extensive pipeline of transactions in hand and is looking for an Interim Head of Project Finance for an initial term of 6 months to lead the platform’s investment and finance of (core and core plus) infrastructure, PPPs and energy transition deals.

The Head of Project Finance is responsible for:

• Screening investment/development opportunities and leading the firm’s equity investment process

• Arranging debt, arranging equity and financial structuring

• Overall transaction oversight including negotiation of risk allocation and contractual documentation

• Leading due diligence processes, including management of relationships with financiers and asset management support

• Development of strategies for new asset classes as the firm continues to diversify into new areas

The successful applicant will be able to display and provide track record for the following experience and skills:

• Minimum of 15 years’ working experience with lead level exposure to PPP/ Project Finance projects

• Previous debt and or equity finance function leadership experience at director or similar level

• International as well as domestic financial market experience desirable

• Industry standing and demonstrable financial market / investor network

• Significant PPP/Project Finance t Banking or Financial Advisory experience in project leading and origination or executive roles.

• Commercial acumen - understanding of the commercial framework applicable to project finance and other financial transactions

• Highly developed financial analysis and understanding

• Negotiation – ability to conduct complex commercial negotiations with multiple stakeholders, specifically financiers, and equity investors

• Strong relationship building (internal and external) and influencing skills.

• Effective Delegation skills, e.g. to team members.
