Firm

Our client is an iconic investment platform that boasts a global reach and access to large scale capital that is supported by deep operational expertise. Their investment track record is second to none, with their Asia Pacific mandate performing well beyond expectations, with Australia as its central hub. This performance means continued conviction and more capital/resources to be committed towards the region, with my client now looking to hire an experienced investment professional to join their Global Data Centre team as a Vice President and report directly to the Managing Partner & CEO Global Data Centres.

Role

As a core member of the Global Data Centre team, this role will:

• Help enhance management capability at portfolio companies; support global customer account management initiatives; assist with capital management programs; track market trends including leasing activities globally; coordinate learnings from design and construction across companies and drive stronger global vendor relationships

• Oversee and support the delivery of business plans (i.e. the initial underwrite case and ongoing budgets and business plans) of our existing and forthcoming investments in data centres in the Asia-Pacific region

• Maintaining a strong oversight over existing investment including capital expenditures and lifecycle activities, with a strong emphasis on the achievement of key performance metrics, new market entry, follow-on investments in new assets or sites and working jointly with the investment team on commercial and technical aspects of due diligence for new acquisition related investments

Responsibilities

• Effective support for strategic initiatives of the GDC platform and its CEO

• Delivery against specific projects across global commercial, capital and supply chain initiatives allocated to this role

• Oversee the delivery and management of the business plan of data centre assets within APAC, including capital expenditures for assets under management

o Ensure that five-year business plans and annual plans are properly developed and scoped, and that delivery of key initiatives is performing against the intended schedule and budget

o Manage ongoing joint venture partner relations in portfolio companies with a JV partner

o Provide recommendations on key issues that improve the overall effectiveness of the capital projects in support of corporate and operational objectives

o Assess project control procedures and risk management tools

• Oversight of Life Cycle capex activities

o Ensure that long term maintenance capital plans are in place and tracking to projections

o Conduct a regular review of Life Cyle capex programs in conjunction with local technical teams with a goal to achieve improved scale, efficiency and effectiveness

Experience

This position offers an opportunity for growth within the Infrastructure team and wider Asset Management group. To qualify, candidates must have:

• Minimum experience of 10+ years, in [M&A, capital transactions and/or portfolio management] within an investment bank, private equity or asset management firm ideally with some exposure to digital infrastructure.

• Exposure to the development and delivery of strategic and operational improvement plans

• Deep knowledge and experience in capital investment programs, including strong commercial experience in balancing risk and reward in large contracts

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Collaborate across all levels while respectful to opinions and sharing of information, grounded in research

• Self-motivated and proactive, with respect to both managing workload and professional development

• Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities
